Riverwood Healthcare Community Auxiliary is committed to the support of Riverwood Healthcare Center through volunteer services, fundraising and the promotion of a positive image to the community.
Provide quality volunteer services to Riverwood Healthcare, its staff, patients and community.
Coordinate fundraising activities that support the ongoing delivery of healthcare services at Riverwood.
Support gift shop expansion and increase revenue.
Create committees to motivate and encourage members to become active using their individual skills.
Take a larger role in Health Care Auxiliaries of Minnesota and Minnesota Health Care Gift Shop Association.
The Auxiliary has several important fundraisers during the year.
The Lights of Love program was started in 1983 and continues today. For a $5.00 donation in memory of or in honor of a loved one a representative bulb appears on a special Christmas tree at Riverwood Healthcare Center. The Auxiliary hosts a Tree Lighting Ceremony every year just before Thanksgiving.
Each year a handmade quilt is donated by one of our members for a Quilt raffle. Tickets are sold beginning in May with the winner announced at the Aitkin County Fair in August. Proceeds from the raffle go to provide two high school scholarships annually.
A Bake Sale is held in July during Aitkin’s Riverboat Days and a Christmas Cookie and Butter Braid Sale is held before the holidays. Auxiliary members prepare and donate the baked goods.
In addition, the Auxiliary holds a used book sale twice a year.
A Riverwood Auxiliary Gift shop is located at the Aitkin facility. This unique boutique boasts a variety of gifts from stuffed toys and jewelry to pottery and home décor items.
With revenue from the Gift Shop and other fundraisers the Auxiliary helps purchase equipment and material for Riverwood Healthcare Center and its clinics.
There are over 130 Auxiliary members. If you are interested in joining the Riverwood Healthcare Community Auxiliary, contact Betty Cooper at (218) 927-5508 or email bcooper@sisunet.org
