Riverwood’s
full-time ER physicians are certified in Comprehensive
Advanced Life Support and/or Advanced Trauma Life
Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support. Many
of our ER physicians are instructors in these courses.
Our
emergency facility has 8 ER beds and a 3-bed critical
care stabilization room for trauma and critically-ill
patients.
Riverwood is also one of two hospitals
in Minnesota designated as Level III Trauma Centers
with surgeons readily available for emergencies.
Response time is critical to saving the lives of
trauma victims and as a Level III Trauma Center,
we have an Emergency Room provider staffing the
ER 24-hours a day. We also have an on-call physician
who can respond within 15 minutes of the patient’s
arrival in the ER and a general surgeon who can
respond within 30 minutes. Riverwood maintains
specific equipment and follows standard policies
and procedures to care for trauma patients.
