When you have a medical emergency, every second counts. That’s why Riverwood’s Emergency Services department is a full-time, 24-hour-a-day, 7-day-a-week facility.

Riverwood has an on-site helipad for fast air ambulance transportation.

Our emergency medical staff has the latest training and technology to provide the highest level of emergency medical service. Riverwood can provide the initial evaluation and stabilization for any medical problem or traumatic injury. All of our ER providers maintain certifications in advanced cardiac and trauma care.

Riverwood has a Level 1 Heart Attack Program for those experiencing a heart attack. We’re one of seven hospitals across Minnesota chosen as pilot sites for the statewide trauma system.

Riverwood was also one of two hospitals in Minnesota designated as a Level III Trauma Center with surgeons readily available for emergencies. Response time is critical to saving the lives of trauma victims and as a Level III Trauma Center, we have an Emergency Room provider staffing the ER 24-hours a day. We also have an on-call physician who can respond within 15 minutes of the patient’s arrival in the ER and a general surgeon who can respond within 30 minutes. Riverwood maintains specific equipment and follows standard policies and procedures to care for trauma patients.
